Raw Diva Notes 11/2/09
All Raw divas saw time tonight, thanks to a battle royal to find the next challenger for Melina’s title. The Bellas were also used briefly in a segment with Cena and DX. Their presence was pretty trivial, so that is all I will say there.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne hosted a “Raw’s Got Talent” segment. That was just begging for Jillian to get involved somehow. She sang a duet with Chavo. Looks like these two really are becoming a team. They do have so much in common. Sharon slapped Jillian. Jillian ends up selling it while Chavo gets his dose of weekly humiliation. What happened to that grand rumor that Jillian was getting a huge push? Either the WWE dropped it based on her performance in the last few weeks, or they never really intended to give her that great of a push anyway. Then again, considering how she has been treated in the WWE, the recent brush in the title scene for Jillian may actually be as big as it gets. Typical segment overall. The only thing I found interesting at all, besides the talent of Chris Masters, was the return of Khali. Amazing segment.
Jillian was the only diva not involved in the battle royal, besides Melina. Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Brie and Nikki, Eve, and Alicia Fox went at it. Pretty basic action. Nothing I found too exciting to note. They did tease some tension between Gail and Kelly Kelly. May Gail still turn heel? I hope so. Eve looked strong at one point. Jack Swagger just happened to be out around then. They are continuing a romance angle with these two? I still think it would be more interesting if Miz was still involved, but more may happen next week. Good to see they have some kind of angle planned for Eve. Alicia Fox dominated much of the match as well. She was the only official heel involved. It came down to Kelly and Alicia. That is a subtle message about who the WWE views as the number-2 face diva on Raw at the moment. However, Kelly did not win. Alicia tosses her out. Melina was watching the match from the back and simply smiles. Alicia Fox defeats Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Eve, and the Bellas to earn another shot at the Diva’s Championship.
I seriously doubt this match will make it to Survivor Series. I had a feeling the WWE was building Alicia back up for a title feud, so her victory does not surprise me. She will just be used to give Melina another victory before Maryse returns. If Maryse messes up, a heel Gail Kim may step in. This title match may just happen next week. I will give a preview before then.
